Types of Air Hostess:
There are various types of air
hostesses, including Domestic Air Hostesses, International Air Hostesses, First-Class/Business-Class Air
Hostesses, Cabin Crew Supervisors (Senior Air Hostesses), Corporate or Private Air Hostesses, Charter Flight
Air Hostesses, Regional Air Hostesses, Low-Cost Carrier Air Hostesses, VIP/First-Class Air Hostesses on
Long-Haul Flights, and Cargo Flight Attendants. Each role varies in responsibilities and service levels,
depending on the type of flight and passengers.
Air Hostess
Responsibilities of an Air Hostess:
- Passenger Safety and Security
Conduct pre-flight safety checks to ensure all equipment (like seatbelts, oxygen masks, and life vests)
is functional, Demonstrate the use of safety equipment to passengers, Ensure that passengers comply with
safety regulations, such as fastening seatbelts and keeping their seats in the upright position during
takeoff and landing.
- Providing Comfort and Assistance
Help passengers find their seats and assist with storing luggage in overhead bins, Serve meals, snacks,
and beverages,Address passengers' needs, such as providing blankets, pillows, or helping with special
requirements (e.g., children, elderly, or passengers with disabilities).
- Emergency Response
In case of an emergency, air hostesses are trained to perform first aid, evacuate passengers, and handle
other emergency situations such as turbulence or cabin depressurization, They are also responsible for
calming passengers in stressful situations.
- Customer Service
Greet passengers with a friendly attitude and provide excellent customer service throughout the flight,
Handle complaints and resolve issues that arise during the flight.
- Pre-flight and Post-flight Responsibilities
Before boarding, air hostesses participate in briefings with the pilots and other cabin crew members to
go over flight details, such as weather conditions and safety concerns, After the flight, they ensure
the cabin is tidy and check for any items left behind by passengers.
Qualifications Required:
10th + 12th (any stream) + Air
Hostess Training Program (with optional certifications).
Other Requirements:
- Age: Typically 18-27 years.
- Height and fitness: Airlines have specific height and medical fitness requirements.
- Language proficiency: Strong command over English and knowledge of other languages is advantageous.
